Liver metastatic cancer is one in which the cancer originates in another organ, and then spreads to the liver. Primary liver cancer is relatively rare and represents about 2% of all malignancies.
Primary cancers in the colon, stomach, pancreas, rectum, esophagus, breast, lung, or skin are the most common cancers to spread (metastasize) to the liver. Conventional treatment for liver cancer normally involves high doses of chemotherapy and also may include radiotherapy.
